why does my screen go dark and hardly read for si and di? if i do a default it will work for awhile and then go back to dark please help

what is your depth and what depth and side distance have you set?  If the si side distance is less than the water depth you will get dark screens.  (the water column)  Si distance should be about two to three times the depth.

Please take some snapshots when this happens.  Before and after would be good for comparison.

Mine has the same issue.  If you adjust it to the auto mode you will get a better picture.  I found it very hard to set it manually.  You can't make out the contures of the bottom.

I just accomplished my updates to my 797c2 and I have the same issue.  it seemed to resolve itself when I increased my sensitivity to 100% (20).  I was wondering if this was normal.  I am getting zero images like the ones shown.  Very disappointing.  I'll take some snapshots.

Pictures always help.
 Just take a snapshot and then copy to your computer and put them in a post here in this thread.

If it’s been a few software versions ago that you upgraded from this could be normal as the Engineers decreased the overall level of the Si returns.  Do either of you know what software version you were running before?

My upgrade was  3-4 weeks ago.

sorry it took so long to get back to this but found out that if your batteries go dead so will your screen
