Let’s discuss question 1 first and then we will discuss question 2 in a separate post in this thread ...
Hi Every1, My question is 2 Fold:
1>When running 2D Sonar via 83/200khz Dual Beam, Fish ID from the Wider 60deg 83khz Beam show as Blue and the Narrower 20deg 200khz Beam as Yellow, so what Color/Profile would the ID show IF one were useing an older Quad Beam with the Left/Right 35deg 455khz Beams?
Fish ID is a function of the head unit processing/interpreting the return of the Sonar pulse ... the transducer is merely the microphone/speaker by which that Sonar pulse gets sent or received thru the water ...
It’s important to understand that there is only one 2d piezo in the transducer ... but it can be used in 2 separate frequencies (“Dual Beam”) ...
So in or order for the head unit to “transmit” both of the noted 2d frequencies (83kHz and 200kHz usually) = the head unit must
alternate the frequency signals being sent to that single 2d piezo in the transducer ...
Now ...also note ... that the head unit must wait for the return of a transmit signal before it can initiate the next transmit signal ... this is called the “duty cycle” ...which consists of —— transmit signal sent to piezo/piezo vibrates a sound pulse into the water/return echos received by same piezo/signal sent back to processor/processed —- repeat
So ... taking into account that the head unit alternates the transmit signal by frequency - and also taking into account that the head unit must wait for the return of a transmit signal before it can initiate the next transmit signal = this gives the distinct knowledge for the head unit to discern which targets (in the Sonar beam) are either from the 83kHz transmit “duty cycle” or the 200kHz transmit “duty cycle” ...
All of that say - the color of the Fish ID icons will not change with a different transducer connected ...
Targets recorded in the 83kHz transmit “duty cycle” will be blue ... and targets recorded in the 200kHz transmit “duty cycle” will be orange ... simply because the head unit alternating transmit cycle (83kHz or 200kHz) determines which color/frequency the Fish ID icons are ...

The only cases that the Fish ID colors change is in a different model unit as noted below ...:
