Hi,

My Helix is freezing every 5 seconds or so while recording its screen to the microSD card. It then continues to scroll fine, but is missing part of the image where it froze up for a second.

I have tried to set scroll speed higher and lower as well as trying auto range. You can see it happen in real-time as well as on playback. Only happens while recording so I've ruled out something being wrong with the transducer.

I've tried 2 different power cords known to be working as well as connecting directly to a fully charged 2019 Deep Cycle Marine battery (and using the boat's battery) also have tried using 4 different microSD cards ranging from 2gb to 32 gb (all sandisk brand) 2 of which are labeled "Ultra" one is "Ultra PLus"

I freshly formatted them to Fat32 and encrypted them using the Helix prior to recording with them.

The glitching occurs on all sonar beams and at all frequencies. It seems to occuring at regular intervals of approximately 5 seconds accompanied by a horizontal line. The type of line you would typically see when going fast, but this happens even under 6mph.

Hope you can see the screenshots. I'm using Reeefmaster Viewer, but looks the same when using the Helix to Playback.
Where the horizontal lines occur every 5 seconds or so, you can see that there is a dropout of data.

Does anyone know of a fix for this issue? I called HB tech support about a week ago and they said they would get back to me.

Thanks In Advance For Any Help

*At a speed of 5.6mph or 8.2 feet per second...it glitched 3x in 127 feet

I recall Rickard reporting this way back in the xx7 series  ... Whether this is the same issue passed on into newer series I have no idea  ...

1 thing you may try is to set the 2d frequency to High CHIRP (or 200kHz fixed frequently only)  ....

This will shut off the Medium CHIRP (or 83kHz fixed frequency) data collection - allowing more resource capabilities to imaging  ...

Please report back with info from HB or your own investigation results  ...

I'm afraid the "data loss" or "recording gaps" issue is still there. I started a discussion on this many years ago: http://forums.sideimagingsoft.com/index.php?topic=2884.msg16358#msg16358

I notified HB support several times, but never heard anything from them.

Thank You Rickard...I did not have this problem with my Onix 8si ... I tried what Rickie said to do and set the 2D Chirp all the way up and I think it has reduced the loss a little bit. Do you notice that it is consistent on your machine(s) or are some days worse than others? Thanks Very Much again, -Pete

JTLguest, my problems are gone, or at least rare from the day I found the older cards worked best. I use a SanDisk Ultra speed class 10 and a SanDisk Ultra speed class 4 with good results. I haven't bothered testing newer card types. I still use a 999. I usually set scan range at 50 m (150'), travel at 2 - 3 knots and omits the 83 kHz channel. (the 83 kHz channel causes another issue, a zipper-like interference)
