HotMaps SD Card - In or Out?

I purchased HotMaps Premium 2010.  Does the SD card stay in the HB Unit to use the maps or are the maps "loaded" into the HB unit and then the card can be removed?

You have to leave it in!  The maps that are loaded in the unit do not get updated.
