Can I network these two units together and if so what cabling would be required?   Helix 8 Mega DI G3N & Helix 7 chirp SI GPS G2N

One other question. In the setup of the network, if I list the  DI transducer as the DI source in the setup for the Helix 7 SI unit, will I be able to see the Mega DI on it? I have a Minn Kota Ulterra with the built in Mega DI transducer. I may be answering my own question since the Helix 7 SI has Chirp but is not “Mega”.

The chosen sonar data (in any unit network source)  is processed in the unit that the capable xducer is physically connected to - and then shared thru Ethernet to the other unit choosing that source  ...

The displayed image in that “other unit” is only limited by the screen resolution of that “other unit”  ...

So, my Helix 8 Mega DI is the unit the transducer in the trolling motor is connected to. Am I correct then that the DI is then shared with the Helix 7 SI by the ethernet connection? Do I need to select the Mega DI transducer in the network settings on the Helix unit? If so then will I not get DI to the H7 when the trolling motor transducer is not in the water?  (Hope I'm not seeming dumb but I'm not terribly versed in networking the units.)

Correct - the HELIX 8 will process the DI data from the MDI - then the data will be shared thru Ethernet to the HELIX 7 ... but the HELIX 7 must be set to use that data from the HELIX 8 in the HELIX 7 Network Source Menu  ...

*Open the HELIX 7 Network source Menu ...
*Click the DI tab ...
*Select the HELIX 8  ...

Correct you will lose DI on the HELIX 7 when the TM is not in the water ...in this case you would go back into the HELIX 7 Network Menu under the DI tab and select the HELIX 7 to allow the HELIX 7 to get DI from its own connected xducer  ...

Thanks. Humminbird also recommends that I turn the H8 sonar off when I take it out of the water. Since when I use the H7 I will be at the console, I will by default need to use the H7 DI. So there is really no benefit to set the H7 to use the MDI from the H8. Or that’s the way I’m seeing it.

 Correct on all points  ...
