After using a dual-slot HB 898, the new Helix7 still has me puzzled with only one TINY, TWEEZERS ONLY, COVER MIGHT NOT REMAIN ON chip issue. I use both Navionics and Lakemaster chips. One slot, one map. I think I am right to fish, mark, go home, pull map card, insert any (SanDisk really preferred?) mSD card, export all my data.  Did read someplace to never export onto the map chip. Okay, so is the Head gonna save all my data in some endless amount?  1Gb limit?  One calendar month? Yikers, dumb here and unaware of how much data the machine will hold before overwriting.  Is there a warning screen that my 7 is full and time to offload?  Must have a ripped out page in my online manual....

I like your humor  ...

The unit waypoint memory is 2750 .. it will not allow saving any more than that - 2751 will fail to save  ...

You are correct it’s not a good idea to save Nav data to a map card  ...

If you get to the point that you need more waypoints than 2750 - you would need to do some organizing in Humminbird PC by region, lake, bay, etc  ... and then download each from HBPC to a separate SD Card  ...

The common procedure for users that have separate SD Cards with separate Nav data is :

*Start the day with a clean Nav directory in the unit  ...
*Import waypoints from chosen SD Card  ...
*If only one card slot replace SD Card with map card for contour mapping for that day’s outing  ...
*Fish and mark new waypoints  ...
*At the end of the day :
*If only one card slot replace map card with same SD Card used in importing previously  ...
*Export Nav data (this only adds new waypoints to the SD Card)
*Delete Nav data from unit  ...

Thanks, again for this solution, and for solving the other mSD card issue.

Humor . . . ya, USMC couple decades will do that.  Don't worry, I will have more idjit questions in
the future here, as there are no longer 9yr olds around to fix the VCR or help put new points under the distributor
in the 62 Fairlane.
