Topic: HDSI kick-up

I'm installing a 999 unit with the hdsi transducer and find that the transducer seems too tight in the metal bracket to pivot up.  The instruction sheet shows the xducer pivoted up to adjust the bracket to transom screws but I'm afraid I'll break the plastic ears.  Have to take the thru bolt out and slide the xducer down to get it out.  Is this normal, or is the some adjustment I need to make to the metal bracket?

It's been awhile since I've installed a transducer, but I believe I removed the transducer to get at the screws. Better safe than sorry.

It does take some force to pop up the xducer ... But it's designed to pop up instead of break at impact from a water borne obstruction ...

I agree with Mike ... I take the pivot bolt out and slide the xducer off to install and tighten the mounting screws ...

Thanks folks, looks like that's the way it's supposed to be.  For being a kind of loose fit in the bracket, seems like the xducer should pivot up easier.  I still wonder if the mounting screws or the plastic ears will give up before it kicks up!

IMHO, it's a really poor mounting system see the other recent post about HDSI transducer kicking up to easily in this forum.

If I remember correctly, I used a flat blade screwdriver to flip it up for the final tightening of the mounting screws.  Not sure if I read that in the instructions or on a  forum somewhere, but it works.  Makes it easier/safer to do on-water final tweaks to setup.  Less risk of dropped hardware into the abyss.
