import new named waypoints from HumminbirdPC to 1197
« on: April 05, 2012, 05:51:06 PM »
I have the newest version of Hum minbird PC and I have exported all the waypoints from the SD card in the 1197 to humminbird PC.  i have renamed a few of the waypoints in humminbird PC and they are on the SD card now with the new names.
How do I get the new names into the 1197 from the SD card?
Thanks.

First you need to delete all of the Nav Data from your 1197 unit.
Than install the SD memory card and power the 1197 unit on.  You should see a message that XXX number of waypoints, tracks and routes have been loaded.

As Greg stated, DELETE all nav data from the unit before putting in the new data card. We have seen units lock up from data being duplicated and even corrupted if this is not done..
Which could required the unit to be sent back to the factory to fix..

Actually since he has renamed some of the waypoints they will not be duplicates; they will be new waypoints as far as the unit is concerned because they have a different name or coordinates.  What would happen is that the unit would only load the waypoints that he renamed which would be in the same locations as the original waypoints that he renamed (if that made sense).

the point here is to delete all current nav data from the unit and then load the new data.
Because of past issues with this operation it is a caution to make sure you  delete and avoind any error from locking the unit.,

this is just as with updates and factory restores..
Be safe first.
