Transducer for 798
« on: January 13, 2014, 06:05:43 PM »
I just bought a Humminbird  798ci SI HD Combo that came with a Transducer--XNT 9 SI 180 T. What I am wondering is should I go ahead and get the next step up HD transducer before I install it?  And if I do does Humminbird have a trade-in (plus some money) for this transducer that I have?  That way if I upgrade my unit I will already have the transducer installed. Thanks for the help.

The 455kHz frequency of your 798 can be used with the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T ....and it should render a better image ...because the piezoes are longer in the HDSI xducer....

Now whether you can descern that better image in the 798 screen is debatable...some say yes...some say no...

HB offers transducer trade in for new unused xducers that came in the box...I do not know if there would be an extra charge for this...
