Topic: Installing 998 / 788ci & interlink, what software version?

Hi  I have finally started installing these units and the lakes are thawing fast so I want them up and running right ASAP .   I have been reading about interlink problems with these newer software updates, so I am wondering what update I should use on both of these units so that they have the best chance of working like they should.   I have not yet checked what version each unit has preinstalled.  If it turns out that older versions need to be installed, do I have to go through Humminbird customer service for this?  I dont see many older versions available for downloading.

I am going to be very unhappy if I just spent all this money and they do not perform as expected.   Please help!
