Power question
« on: July 12, 2012, 08:19:19 PM »
My unit periodically shuts off in rough water, so I'm almost positive that the problem lies in the pins in the power connector to the unit (I've checked and snugged all battery connections). Now, there's a lot of pins in the connector so which ones do I bend out? Also I've read that obviously if you complete the circuit with metal pliers or what not between your positive and negative pins that you will blow a fuse. I have a ranger and it has a switch in the back to kill all auxiliary power besides the main and trolling motor (I'm sure you guys have this) . If I leave that switch on off I don't have to worry about blowing a fuse correct?

Thanks guys

They mean to slightly bend the pins in the power cable connector outwards (away from each other).  The power connector has only two pins in it (see drawing).

If you unit is wired through that accessory switch, than yes, setting it to the Off position will keep you from blowing the fuse.
