Humminbird has always indicated that software older than what came in the unit will not successfully load  ...

I don’t know if the unit would even recognize a software version older than what came on it  ...

I’d be afraid it would brick the unit and have to be sent back to Humminbird  ...

General Discussion / Helix g4 no more 360
« Last post by reso on January 07, 2025, 06:41:35 PM »
Hi guys,

My helix 12 gen 1 got damaged after many years of good service with my as360 pod.

I bought recently a helix  12 mega SI+.  gn4 with the latest firmware and it says that the as360 is not supported anymore ?? That is ridiculous and forces me to invest into mega 360 while I only use the 455 khz at sea....

Is there a way to downgrade tot before 8-2-2024 , the latest  version that does not support the original 360? How to get the older firmware , I have looked everywhere on the net but no success.

Cheers

Reso

General Discussion / Re: Google Earth path to track line on Solix/AutoChart PC
« Last post by Norm_Shea on December 09, 2024, 08:42:02 AM »
Thanks, Rickie.  I might repost there just as information but I actually figured it out.  After yet another call to Humminbird Tech Support, they told me of a feature in the Import/Convert option from the File menu.  If you hold down the Ctrl key while selecting Import/Convert, another popup window appears that allows you to import a polyline.  Using that, it worked great and the tracks are now on the Solix.  Unfortunate that this information isn't included in the AutoChart manual.  Could have saved 3-4 hours of time for what is now less than a 1 minute process.

General Discussion / Google Earth path to track line on Solix/AutoChart PC
« Last post by Norm_Shea on December 06, 2024, 08:33:12 AM »
Hey All,
New to the forum and this is my first post.  I have a Solix 10 MSI+ G3 and AutoChart PC.  I'd like to take a path that I created in Google Earth and have it show up as a track line on the Solix.

So far I've
-saved it as a .kml and then, using GPS Visualizer, converted it to a .gpx and imported it into AutoChart PC.  Doing that it only showed up as waypoints from each corner.
-downloaded and installed GPS Babel, and converted the .kml to a Humminbird .ht file.  When importing it into AutoChart PC it still only shows up as waypoints, no lines.
-moved the .ht file to the microSD card and tried bringing it into the Solix directly.  Doing that, the importing hung, never completed and, after about 15 minutes I canceled it.

I watched a YouTube video of a guy doing it using GPS Babel for the conversion from .kml to .ht and it worked great.  He was using a different Humminbird software though.

Any suggestions?

Note to anyone following  ... :

The info provided above can only be applied to those older core unit series back in the early days of x97 and x98 series units  ...

Humminbird will not disclose these proprietary notes for any of their newer series units (after 2015)  ...

Believe me …. I have asked  ...

This is the info Humminbird provided for me way back in the x97 and x98 days  ...

Note : Humminbird introduced “Jigging Mode” in 2015 as a software upgrade that can only be explained in a separate thread (if needed)  ...

The elements are pinged in sequence  ...

Jigging mode On = 200 kHz, Left SI Beam, Right SI Beam, 83 kHz, repeat

Jigging mode off = 200 kHz, Left SI Beam, Right SI Beam, 83 kHz, Left SI Beam, Right SI Beam, repeat.
——-

If we set the "Beam Frequency" under the Sonar tab to 200kHz (shutting off the 83kHz transmit) ... the ping sequence is now  ... :

Jigging mode On = 200kHz, left SI beam, right SI beam, repeat

Jigging mode Off = 200kHz, left SI beam, right SI beam, repeat

Note … if we have the sonar set to 200 khz only there are some caveats:

In deeper that 350 FT of water 83 kHz pings all the time (in the sequence)  ...

On a network 83 kHz pings all the time (in the sequence)  ...

In Split Sonar View 83 kHz pings all the time (in the sequence)
  ...
——-

If we have Sonar set to 83kHz - the 200kHz is still in the ping sequence because digital depth comes from the 200kHz return  ... we just don’t have a view to see it with this 83kHz only selection  ...
