A saved Track is a line shaped like it was formed as you naviagte and is not directional. It is made of Track Points. It has two ends and can be followed to either end from any position on it. The end of it is determined by which end you are going towards. So there is no beginning, just two ends.
A Route is a list of planned waypoints that will have a straight line shown on the view from your start position to the first waypoint on the list. When you reach that waypoint, a straight line will be shown to the next waypoint on the list, etc. It is similar to the line shown when you select "Go To" from your position to a chosen waypoint. You can choose Forward or Reverse for the order you want to navigate the Route waypoint list.
A Route is a planned course and a Track is an actual course traveled.
