AS GPS nmea sentences
« on: July 16, 2017, 02:47:57 AM »
Humminbird AS GPS unit returns 4 types of NMEA0183 sentences:

$GPGGA
$GPHDG
$GPRMC

$PTSI

The last one is unusual and I cant find any reference for this.

Does anyone knows how to parse this?

Thank you in advance.

Hey there, did you ever figure out what the $PTSI message is from the AS GPS puck? I've been unsuccessfully trying to configure the NMEA message out from a Leica GS18i antenna into my Helix 7 MSI GPS G4. By change could anybody post example NMEA sentences that the AS GPS puts out?

Well similar project here. Any update from anybody ?
I'm tiring to setup Holybro M9N GPS to use with Helix. It is 6 time cheaper and many time more precise and modern unit than original HB puck AS GPS HS.

Well, everything I learned about the AS GPS HS and its NMEA 0183 sentences is in that Git project. It has everything you need to build your own GPS receiver and magnetometer with an Arduino and a little coding. Consider this my way of repaying the help I’ve received here and from the open-source community, as well as the help and support I haven’t received from Humminbird over the years.

A full step-by-step guide will follow for non-programmers and fishermen with minimal DIY experience, but for now I don’t have a fully refined product. It is still a work in progress.

So if you want to jump the line or speed things up, send me an email. Any support is welcome.

BTW: it is $PTSI160,V1,V2,HHH*CS
Field   Meaning   Unit   Notes
V1   Pitch   Integer degrees   Positive = nose up. Range observed: 3–8.
V2   Roll   Integer degrees   Negative = port side down, positive = starboard side down. Range observed: -15 to +1.
HHH   Magnetic heading   Integer degrees   0–359. Must match $GPHDG.
