i need some help .my unit  maps  on a lake will show the water from the land  you can tell where the water is at all times  but to day i went to a river and it did not show the water  it all looked like land but the  marking line still worked it marked where i had been but  it all looked like land no river , did i set something wrong

Nope, you are doing alright.  Some maps do not show every thing. 
Which map sd are you using?
