I have just got a 798ci software version 4.780 voltage 13.5 and am having problems with the unit rebooting while in simulation mode. Haven't Had it out on the water yet. I have the unit hooked to a 20A regulated power supply. I have bent the pins on the lead for a better connection. It mainly reboots while using the 4 way button. Any ideas on the problem??

When you say it's rebooting I take it is not shutting off but restarting on it's own? If you mean it is shutting off and you have to push the power button to turn it back on, it's more than likely your power cord.
Even though you bent the pins I have noticed that if you move that thing in the slightest direction or start pushing buttons without holding the power cord to keep it from moving, it will shut down.

For safety of the unit ensure you have an in line 3 amp fuse and are not directly connected to the 20 supply. This wont help with your problem but might save the unit of over current possibility.
Humminbird says there is not a size problem with the pins but we are seeing too many issues on this forum with power drops. It almost seems that the common piece of this is the pins and connector. Greg, is staying on top of this at HB but he is only one of a group.
Some other mfgs had a good idea for connection (twist lock) but HB took a different slip on approach. I dont think it is a positive as twist lock. but work with this group and look at ideas on power problems.

Yes the unit is restarting and it,s not a power problem. Some times it will lock up on the loading screen after it restarts it,s self

You might want to go ahead and call Humminbird about getting your 798 unit back in to be looked at. While in the simulator mode the unit should reset off of the menus, the sonar display and even the view after about two minutes of the last button being pressed but it should not lock up when being turned on.
