Title: 899 SI depth problems
Post by: kelvin on June 05, 2016, 02:00:49 PM
I have a new 899 SI , the depth will not always read correctly, in 8' of water it may bounce to 19' then back down after a few minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The first thing I would check is your sensitivity setting.  If it is to high, this can happen.  Try lowering it to see if this helps. If you were in 8' of water with a soft bottom and went over a hard area,
that 19' could be a second echo.

Switchfire Clear can help with erratic shallow water depth issues also ...

I will try both of these to see if they help. I think my sensitivity was around 11, I was looking at SI and this is where it was clearest at.
I will also see if I was on clear mode.
Thanks for the suggestions, any other help appreciated!

It may be important to mention that Sensitivity will need to be different for SI - 2d (and DI) ...

This is mainly because of the difference in the distinctive Sonar shapes ...and how much gain each individual Sonar pulse needs to get adequate reflection data ...
