Title: Dual 999ci HD SI Question
Post by: Bradley on May 06, 2016, 10:43:31 AM
Hello -
I am new here and have a question.  I have a 999ci HD SI mounted at the helm with the transducer mounted at the stern.  I recently bought a second 999ci HD SI unit that I intend to mount on the bow.  I know that I can link the units, but have a couple of questions about how to do this.  Here's what I need to know.

-What is the cable part number that I need to link the units?
-If I do link them, do I need to mount the transducer for the second unit or will the original transducer run both units?
-If I link the units and use one transducer, will I have the ability to view different outputs on each unit simultaneously (ie - look at down view on one unit and side view one unit at the same time)?

Any feedback or suggestions for different linking/mounting/etc are appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad

Most people who have a SI unit at the bow will mount a 2nd transducer on the trolling motor.  If you are at the bow, it's not good to always be seeing what is behind you.  You want to see what is directly below you and to the side from the bow position.

To link the 2 units via Ethernet, you will need 2 Ethernet adapter cables.... http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-EC-QDE/ (http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-EC-QDE/)

And one Ethernet cable in the length needed to connect the 2 units.  This is a 15' cable...  http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-EC-15E/ (http://www.humminbird.com/Products/AS-EC-15E/)
They also make it in other length .... substitute the 15 with a 20, or 30 for example for those part numbers.

As said above you will need 2 adapters and the one cable, they will share a ducer and you can view whatever u want on either screen. One di and one 2d or SI. I would also mount the second hdsi ducer on the trolling motor just as a second option.

Thanks for the info! Do you know what the part number is for the trolling motor mount? I have been looking online and find AD STM 7 (7400063). However, it doesn't list the 999ci HD SI as being compatible with it. I am looking for the kit for the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T and can't seem to find it.

This is the humminbird trolling motor mount for the HDSI transducer .....Humminbird will exchange it if you send the transducer in before opening any of the mounting hardware bags.
The transducer is the same..... just the mount is different.

Many people prefer to use the transducer shield and save mount for the extra protection....but it is a little pricy.  http://www.transducershieldandsaver.com/product/tm-hdsi/ (http://www.transducershieldandsaver.com/product/tm-hdsi/)

P.S.  If you use the transducer shield and save mount, you don't need to exchange the transducer.

The AS STM 7 is the correct adapter for mounting the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T on a TM ...

The Transducer Shield and Saver that Bob mentions is a much sturdier mount ...

 >:D
Somebody say DUAL 999's??
 >:D

@ Bob, I know this B/C I asked The BEST CSR at HB...lol!
The two "models" of the HDSI XDCR:

http://www.humminbird.com/Products/XHS-9-HDSI-180-T/ (http://www.humminbird.com/Products/XHS-9-HDSI-180-T/)

http://www.humminbird.com/Products/XTM-9-HDSI-180-T/ (http://www.humminbird.com/Products/XTM-9-HDSI-180-T/)

Both are identical, HOWEVER you must PAY for the  AD-STM-7 if you want that mount.
It's NOT very stout.

I fabricated my own TM mount, but in hindsight - I should have just bought the TSS solution & saved myself time & effort!

I have SI on both ends of the craft & recently added a Helix12DI that is also on the trolling motor as shown below.
