Title: My homemade sun shield for my 1199
Post by: born 2 fish on April 28, 2016, 02:55:25 PM
I needed a sun shield for my 1199 and nobody makes one so I made my own out of a marine battery box I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel to cut it out and some Velcro to hold it in place. What do you think. Total cost about 15 dollars.

Very creative! Looks great. Making one is on my to-do list! I've seen another version made with a plastic garbage can. My ONIX gets real hot. So whatever variety I use, I do not want to create a heat collector. I am thinking along the lines of a white exterior and black interior, drilling a lot of small holes and then maybe cover holes with fabric if hole are a problem.

You may want to consider only drilling the holes in the top (heat rises) allowing the heat to escape and possibly creating an upward draft.
The white outside / black inside sounds like a good choice.
