Title: 997/987 Removeable Sunshade - Glare Stomper
Post by: RGecy on April 13, 2009, 11:03:11 PM
Cool Removeable Sunshade.  This could be modified for any unit with a removeable cover. I would have spray painted the cover flat black to reduce any glare from the white border.  Great Mod!

Here is the PDF download if you want to save or print it.  [attachment=11]

Hi Guys,
I forwarded an Email to the Glare Stomper people about the availability of the Model 888 used in this project and got this reply.

"Hi Roger,

Unfortunately, we no longer produce the 888 visor due to low sales.  We've had a few requests this year, but not enough to justify the manufacturing process.

Best Regards,

Dave R. Reichert"

FYI

Take care,
Roger

This thread grabbed my attention as I have a problem seeing my screen in sunny conditions if I don't have the canvas up. After seeing the solutions posted here I decided to build my own. I used thin aluminum sheet metal and a leftover can of matte black truck bedliner paint. I made it big enough to put the screen cover on and off without removing the sunshade. As it turned out it gets secured by loosening the side bolts to the unit and inserting the sheet metal between the Humminbird unit and the Humminbird mount and then retightening the side bolts. I use a ram mount so I don't have to adjust the angle on the actual Humminbird bracket. Now I just have to wait for a sunny day to try it out!!! ;D
