Title: Helix 10 si NMEA connection
Post by: Pck on March 15, 2016, 11:43:37 PM
Humminbird Greg....... I have a new helix 10si and want to send gps info to my Standard Horizon GX1600 VHF. I see you have a document titled "Connecting the NMEA Output from a 700 series unit to another NMEA device"......Would that same connection apply to the helix 10??? I have the AS HHGPS cable. Thx

Greg hasn't been able to check in due to increased training duties at HB ...

And I know nothing about NMEA ...

If no one addresses your question ...you can call HB for support ...

Pck ... Can you link me to that document ... ??

It wouldn't hurt for me to read it (even if I may not understand it) ...

If you google "Connecting the NMEA Output from a 700 series unit to another NMEA device" it will come up. Looks like the doc came from HB Support, FAQ

Rickie..... Just talked to HB support, the only cable they have to support NMEA GPS output from a helix 10 (or any other HB GPS/combo unit) is the AS HHGPS cable and the document I mentioned is good for the wiring info. Basically, it's pretty simple - from the AS HHGPS cable, the black wire (-) connects to whatever color the NMEA ground (-) wire is on the unit you are sending GPS info too (in my case, a GX1600 VHF, green wire), and the AS HHGPS white wire (+) to the NMEA GPS input (+, blue wire on the 1600). When I receive my 10si and wire it up, I'll let u know......

Is this info from HB going to answer your question then ??
