Title: Help confirming what is on the sreenshot
Post by: coy on March 14, 2016, 09:16:46 PM
This is a screenshot that I have saved with Humviewer.  After a little work on the lake an reading alot, I just want to confirm that these are indeed fish on my screenshot  My questions is, if this is indeed fish, how do you try to determine what type they are?  I was just playing with the electronics this day, so I did not stop and try to catch them.  Any tips are appreciated.  Thanks!

Sometimes it's easier to discern fish echoes on the head unit ... Sometimes it's easier to discern fish echoes in Humviewer ...

Looking closely at the echoes ... It seems evident there are individual dots in the masses of white areas ...

Individual dots are good indications the individual echoes are fish that are large enough to create an individual dot ... Baitfish and prop wash are usually white "clouds" with no individual echoes to pick out ...

Species is more difficult ... Use your knowledge of how certain species of fish should be relating in that specific time of the year ...

For example ... Crappie school ... Catfish and carp roam ... Walleye school near bottom ... Etc ...

Catching one is the best identifier ...

Thanks Rickie, I appreciate it  What about the image below?  Would you say these are all baitfish?

Last picture.  I think?  This one shows the classic "arch" on the 2d screen  Does that mean that these are individual fish and my other images are all baitfish?  Sorry for all of the elementary questions, just trying to figure this out  Thanks

So I lied.  This is my last picture of the night  You can see that my speed increased on this screenshot  is the image supposed to look like this at high speeds?  If not, how can I fix it?  Thanks

Sometimes it's difficult to make out the individual echoes ...

This one I think you are getting so much turbulence that the Sonar can't read thru all the bubbles ...
