Guys
I'm new to the site and have a question regarding Software Updates using a SD Card for transferring the Update .
Thought id better tell you that I am in Australia first .
I found by looking on the Humminbird web site ( Australian site ) updates for my machine . I down loaded them like it said to but when I try and upload it on the machine in my boat via the SD card nothing happens.
Can someone explain the process to me as I feel that am doing something wrong . ( obviously ) lol
Cheers

Was there anything else on the SD card besides the update info? If so, that could be the problem. Only have the update on the card, nothing else.

Like Mike mentioned ... Check the card contents on your PC ...
There should be nothing on the SD Card except the .bin file update ...
(Windows will not open the .bin file but you should see it when you check the SD Card contents) ...
Did you insert the SD Card after the unit was powered on ...??

ay guys
No I had a heap of snap shots on it but I deleted them before hand and formatted it as well . I turned the machine on let it do all the set ups them placed it in the machine .
First I placed it in the slot to the right , no screen pop up to proceed then the slot on the left still no screen pop up. it san 8gb card .
By the way what card slot should it go into . The right or left , or doesn't it matter?
The right one is the slot where the mapping card for the chartplotter goes .

It doesn't matter which slot is used for updates ...
You might try a different card ... Sometimes these units are finicky on what brand card is used ...
Did you open the SD Card on your PC to see that the .bin file is indeed on the card ...??

I believe so it reads ( 858c_v7.530bin 12.424Kb ) and its the only thing on it when I insert it in the card reader on the computer .

Your OP states you got the software from an Australian site ...
I'm not sure if this may be the issue ...
Have you registered your unit at this humminbird.com with you unit's serial number ...??

No not as yet , I only read that I should be registered on the site last night ill try that and see how it goes . By registering how is that going to matter if the unit isn't reading the software ?
cheers

It could be that the software you have is not specifically for that model ...
HB units will only recognize software written specifically for that model ...
And I think international models are different than non-international models ...
