Hi gang and thanks for the opportunity to join you. Looks like a lot of great info on here! I have a 798cSI paired with an interlink to a 788 I bought from a fellow angler buddy although they are not hooked up yet. It took me a while to get a SI transducer ordered from back-order, but everything is good to go I think.
I will be replacing a unit on my boat (not Humminbird) so not sure if I can tackle it myself! I didn't even know you don't wire them directly to the battery so we'll see after I do some reading... ::)

Absolutely don't forget the fuse in the positive wire close to the battery ...
We also recommend not using the boat's existing wiring and run a dedicated pair from the unit to the battery ... Boat wiring is often too light of gauge wire to properly power the unit ...
