Hello. New to the forum and DI/SI units. Been around sonar units for a while. Had the HB LCR 400 and 8000 (still have it somewhere) and a Lowrance unit. Currently run an Eagle 480 and just picked up the Helix 7. Been out with it a few times and have read just about everything I can find. To me, it is an exceptional unit compared to the older units I've used.
Anyway, to my question. Since there is no Helix forum I'll post it here. The manual states I need a SD card to record snapshots. I currently have the Lakemaster SD card installed. Am I correct in understanding that I will need to remove the Lakemaster card and install a blank SD card before I can record snapshots? Or will the unit save the snapshot to be downloaded. Kind of a pita if you have to switch cards each time.
Thanks in advance.

Change cards or save it to your LM card. Just don't delete or format the card! :o

The HELIX 7 having only 1 SD Card is one of the greatest cost saving factors in HB being able to offer the HELIX 7 at the price point as is ...
HB's goal is to try to make HB SI Combo's at a price point that more users can experience ...
Costs have to be cut somewhere ... (1 SD Card slot, no networking hardware, and no preset keys were the most reasonable ways to cut costs without cutting the sonar features and GPS features) ...

That's fine. New to these units and just wanted to verify the Micro card usage. I'll just have to be careful on the water and not lose the Lakemaster card. I have a hard time removing it while it's sitting on my workbench.
Headed out to "play" with it this morning before the snow/rain move it.

I also wish HB would have continued with the full size SD Card throughout its product line ...
Those micro SD Cards are a pain in the patoot!!!

Note: Although I find no "official" documentation ... I read most recommendations are to keep any mapping card locked at all times (unless updating an "up-date-able" map card on the map card company's website) ...and not allow snapshots nor recordings to be placed on the mapping card...

Thanks for the heads-up on not writing anything on the card. Good advice.
