Title: map datum for Australia
Post by: Slater on November 05, 2015, 12:32:48 AM
G'day guys.
I own a 899 and the datum defaults to WGS84. in 2000/2001, Australia adopted GDA94 and there is no option for this in my menus. I have used the unit a bit and also own a Navionics platinum card for my area. One particular afternoon on the bay, the position marked on the unit's map by the unit was around 200 meters out - i.e. we were moving through a shipping channel and the 899 had us about 200m north of it.
this is the only time i have seen such an error. most of the time, the map and our locale line up ok, but this was a glaring difference.

anyone got any ideas if Humminbird will include the Australian map datum?

Cheers, NS

I've sent a note to Deb ... (because I don't know the answer) ...

Maybe she will check in soon for your question ...

The unit would have GDA66 and GDA84
