Title: Creating waypoints
Post by: champ1 on October 08, 2015, 04:07:34 PM
when creating waypoints on my 898 the  coordinates that I'm trying to put in reads n 33 29 43.0 w 86 15 07.0 but on the unit it puts in n 33 29.430 w 86 15.070, my question is does the dot in a different place change the coordinates. The first numbers shows like they are right on google earth but I think they're off on my unit

There are probably other members which can answer your questions better, but:
The numerical values for latitude and longitude can occur in a number of different formats:

degrees minutes seconds: 40° 26' 46? N 79° 58' 56? W

degrees decimal minutes: 40° 26.767' N 79° 58.933' W

decimal degrees:         40.446° N 79.982° W

You can change the coordinate format of your 898 to match what you wish to input or Google "coordinate converter" to find a website or program to convert to the format your 898 uses.
