I have a 798ci si combo and i am running 6.3 software i have not seen any updates until i found this site ws just wondering if the update here was only for the HD units

6.3 is the last update for the 798 ci si unit. If you haven't already, you need to go to http://www.humminbird.com/freshwater/home/ (http://www.humminbird.com/freshwater/home/) click support and register your unit. After you do this you will have access to any updates that are available for your unit. I had the same unit and it is a good one. When I went to the 1198 (larger screen) i gave the 798 to my son but I still have it listed with my other registered so I can let him know of any updates (I told him to register the unit but I don't think he did so I watch if it needs to be upgraded.)

Good machine! The v6.300 is the last version they will write for the old girl.
The HD has newer software, but will probably not be updated any more.
Typical S/W updates go for about 3 years past last production run FWIW....
