I have just ordered a HB 999 Si unit and AC Pro software. What is the best size, or largest size, SD to use in the unit for recording? Also, does it make any difference which slot, left or right, is used with the SD? I'm a real newbie just getting started with all this. Many thanks for any help.

HB units can use 2gb - 32gb in SD Or SDHC (not SDXC) ...
HB recommends the Sandisk brand ...
I look for sales on the fastest "Write Speed" Sandisk SDHC cards I can find (I think the last ones I found were 60mbsp) ...
The main advantage in faster "write speed" is the amount of time it takes the unit to write a snapshot to the SD Card and return to live data operation ...
A slower write speed SD Card may take a few seconds from the time you press the "Mark" button to capture a screenshot ... To the time the unit gives the "write" verification popup ...and return the unit to Normal operation ...

Rickie,
Thank you for the information. Any difference with the slots?

There's no difference in the slots when using a regular SD Card for Nav data management or capturing screenshots/recordings ...
Map cards can also be used in either slot ...
*1 single map card will automatically be recognized in either slot when the "Chart Select" menu choice under the Chart tab is set to "Auto" ...
*2 map cards in the unit will default to read the map card in the right card slot when the "Chart Select" menu choice under the Chart tab is set to "Auto" ...
*2 map cards in the unit can be forced to read the map card in the left card slot when the "Chart Select" menu choice under the Chart tab is set to "Left Card Slot" ...
