does anyone know size limit of background map you can import into Autocharts
I have a large file historic map file that will not import?
no actual reference number within the help file just says reasonable size?
I just get a white screen background after I select the kml file I want to upload to autocharts
I am however able to import small kml files no problem.....
it would be useful to have this as an overlay for my mapping project

update
I cropped image and it will import now still no idea what the size limit is though?

I was wondering the same thing. Do you import the historic map into google esrth and align/calibrate it then export the kml? I would rather do that. I have been using a few pieces of software to manually create .map calibration for image files from Google earth. But started using allmapsoft.com/umd lately. It's nice cus you can grab bigger map images and it creates .map file

Lance,
yes that's exactly how I do it . it actually pretty simple to do ...
but still wondering size limit as I cant actually use the whole map I must crop it in order for it to work

I had a bmp image that was too large so I just converted it over to jpg and then it loaded fine. Maybe a memory issue with the bmp file?

Hi guys
New to this whole thing . would someone be able to explain to me how you do this and would the onix read a kmz file?
Thanks for your time.

Can you import a KML picture. Like a overlay picture from google earth??Can you put that onto your Onix??

I believe right now we can only update the background image on the PC AutoChart. None of those background maps can be viewed on the head unit. i would LOVE to have Google Earth images on my head unit, it would help a ton for unmapped sections of the Missiouri river that I fish. Seems like a simple enough feature to add.

As per this

I think the issues with some of my background images not loading are not due to the file size but rather the image dimensions. I tested and found that a map with smaller dimensions and a larger file size loaded fine. But one with a larger dimension and a smaller file size would not. I suppose the issues with google earth and PC hardware would apply with AutoChart as well. DS were you talking about file size or Dimensions?
