I have several hundred waypoints in Garmin format that I've used Humminbird PC to convert to Humminbird format.
I followed the instructions that I found on the Humminbird website to convert the waypoints. After the conversion, I have a Data.hwr file in a Matrix folder on my SD card.
According to Humminbird documentation, when the SD card is placed in the unit, it will automatically recognize the card and prompt the user to import the waypoints, etc. into memory. This did not happen for me.
I was in my garage, and installed the SD card with converted waypoints in the left slot (I have a Navionics card in the right slot). I put the 899 in "Simulator" mode, and scrolled Chart View. I then moved the cursor to one of the lakes that I have waypoints for, zoomed-in, and the waypoints did not display. I then went to the Waypoint Management Dialog Box, and no waypoints were listed.
At that point, I powered my 899 off. Then, I opened the SD slot door to verify the cards were inserted in their slots properly - they were. I then powered my 899 back up, this time leaving it in "Normal" mode, and repeated the process of going to Chart View, scrolling to a lake with waypoints, and opening the Waypoint Management Dialog Box, all with the same results - no waypoints!
I'm not really sure what to try next. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Did you install the SD Card in the slot after the unit was powered up ... ??

No, I installed the SD Card in the slots, and then powered the unit up. I was under the impression (I'm not sure why), that cards shouldn't be inserted or removed from the slots while the unit is on because it could damage it.

The sequence was changed some versions ago to allow the user more control of when to upload waypoints from an SD Card ...
Power on the unit in Normal or Simulator and then insert the SD Card ...
You should then get the green popup asking if you want to import the NAV data from the SD Card ...

Thanks Rickie; I'll try that as soon as I can.

Powering the unit on, THEN inserting the card worked - Thanks!
