I updated my 899 with 899ciHD_SI _v7_650; now every time I start the 899 it asks to install update. The update is installed in the 899 and everything seems to be working OK with the exception that, on one occasion, all sonar functions went blank, the GPS is the only thing that was working. Restarting returned everything to normal, but it still wants to update on every start-up. I copied the update bin to another SD card with nothing else on it but it has had no effect on the update message problem.
Any ideas?

Open the SD Card on your PC and make sure the .bin is no longer on the SD Card that you are trying to use in the unit ...
Open the System Status view (make this Visible under the Views tab) and verify what version the unit says is installed in the unit ...

Bruce,
I would recommend in the future for you to have a separate SD card ONLY for updates.
Once you update, take it out of your machine and keep it near your PC to download future updates, and erase old .bin files (updates) from it.

Problem fixed by removing .bin file. Tnx
Now have a separate SD for updates. Good idea. Tnx
How about this one:
I have been using the right SD slot for my data, and the left for my map. When I (carefully) put the cover on the compartment the data SD card releases. After several attempts, it finally remains seated. I swapped card locations and there seems to be no problem, so far. I have measured all dimensions of both cards with a micrometer and they are identical. I'm puzzled!

There have been many reports of the 800/900 series units popping the SD Card loose when seating the card slot door ...
You can call HB and they will send you a new card slot door ... But I hear the replacement has the same issue ...
I found on a friend's 998 that using the door itself to engage the SD Card is the most consistent way to get the SD Card fully engaged in its slot ...
You can verify that the SD Card(s) are engaged on the System Status/Self Test View ...

BTW ... Did you verify what version of software is installed in the unit ... ??
With a specific .bin file on a SD Card, the unit shouldn't have even indicated that the it wanted to update to a version that is already installed in the unit ...
The unit should only recognize .bin versions on the SD Card that are not currently running in the unit ...

The SD cards usually have some type of paper label glued to them.
Sometimes the thickness and the manner/angle in which they are
attached can very, and cause difference in overall SD card dimensions.
This could be the reason for some of them popping out when
the card door is closed.

The newest update is 899ciHD_SI_v7_650_7c13b35608884580a01ef2aac342fa93
and the 899 indicates that that id the update installed.
The SD card is a Sandisk. I believe that is a good quality SD.
My best guess is that there is a raised rectangular area in the compartment cover which contacts the SD card at the top because of the angle of the cover when you place the top tab into the holding slot on the compartment.[attachimg=1]
