Title: double waypoints
Post by: graggy on May 25, 2015, 12:54:47 PM
I have the 1199ci HD SI and I put an sd card in it with waypoints. I also have a 898 connected to it with an Ethernet cable. When I go to look at all my waypoints I have two of every one. Is there a way I can delete one of each without having to do them one at a time? And how could this have happened?

Did you physically load the waypoints into both units from the SD Card ... ??

Are the identical waypoints displayed in a different color ...??

I'm not sure if they are different colors I will chack and I might have loaded them in both units

Yes I do have two different color of each waypoint a blue and a green. I turned the 1199 on without the 898 and I had one set of all my waypoints in blue. Then I turned my 898 on and exited out of my waypoints on the 1199 and then went back to them again on the 1199 and I had two sets again one in blue and one in green. I understand that the green must be coming from the 898 but is this normal or can I get rid of one set somehow?

Another question then would be if I want to use just one unit and not the other do I need to leave it this way?

I think this is normal for the Ethernet connection ... (I don't link my units so I'm assuming) ...

Ethernet allows each unit to see the waypoints residing in the other unit ...

The blue waypoint would be the waypoint residing in that unit's waypoint library ...
The green waypoint would be the waypoint residing in the other unit's waypoint library ...

If you physically loaded NAV data into each unit from the same SD Card ... It would give you the scenario you are seeing ...

And you are correct ... If you only power on and use 1 unit ... The waypoints would have to be in that unit's waypoint library ... (1 unit cannot "see" the other unit's library if that 2nd unit is not powered on) ...

I'm not sure how users of ethernetted units manage this except maybe only loading waypoints into 1 unit and then leave both units powered on all the time ...

Maybe someone with ethernetted units will add info here ...
