Is that possible? During ice fishing handheld gps is more cmofortable for spot searching. Output format data working with this?

I looked all over for this last winter and found nothing. Hopefully they make something so we can use out auto chart maps on a handheld instead of lugging around our big open water units.

Reefmaster exported files to Google earth overlays, so with some smartphon with GPS it's possible to use, but it's low accuracy - dependend on smartphon's antenna.

I would guess that most smartphone GPS accuracy is as good as my Humminbirds.  Accurate GPS is no longer technologically difficult.  It's almost to the point of questioning why I have a handheld GPS any more.

Yes, it is possible.  Sort of.  It's a work around, rather than an actual background map.  Meaning, the contours will be displayed as gps paths, rather than a background map.

I'll have to look at the program again to remember how I did it though.  In AutoChart, there is a way to export contours as .ht humminbird tracks.  You could then open that .ht file in GPSBabel, and convert those tracks to other GPS formats, such as .gpx which is widely accepted by most handheld gps units.

Or, you could just do what I do, and use my 788ci HD for ice fishing.
