Title: Running without a GPS puck
Post by: Gimp on May 11, 2015, 12:17:43 AM
I use my 998 both in summer and winter. In the winter, for ice fishing, all of my navigation is done with a handheld GPS so the 998 is only used for sonar. I'd like to mount the puck permanently to my boat and was wondering if anyone knew if it would be bad for the 998 to run without the GPS puck attached?

Although I don't have a definite technical answer ... I can't see where it would damage any part of the system ...

If Greg or someone doesn't pop in with a definite answer ... Call HB ...

I called, they said it should be no problem.
