Hi guys. New to the site but I've done a lot of reading here...lots of great info on this site.  I have a 596 HD DI and it seems that the transducer may be having issues after the long New England winter. In down image mode the screen shows the bottom contour and consistency beautifully but in sonar mode it will not show the bottom or occasionally it will show a faint line only, it does show the surface and surface clutter. It still provides a depth readout numerically. This happens on both 200 and 455kHz. Even on a split screen of sonar and DI, the DI looks great but the sonar image is just white except for the surface. I adjusted sensitivity, surface clutter, range, max mode etc but it didn't help. Also checked all connections. The display head unit seems to behave fine, all buttons work and it scrolls through menus as expected (this is always stored inside in the winter).
Transducer model is XNT 9 DI T. I have access to a XNT 9 20 T transducer. Will this work with my unit? I believe this is the transducer that comes with the non-DI version of my unit. Obviously I would lose DI capabilities but would everything else work?
 Thanks,
 Shawn

Has the "Lower Range" setting the 2d sonar view been changed (press Menu 1 time) to not allow the unit to display the bottom within the range selected ...??

Also look under the Sonar tab for "Digital Depth Source" and change it to 2d ...(I'm not sure if your DI unit has this setting but you can check) ...

Can you post a screenshot of the issue ...??

I will check these when I get home.  I wont be able to take a screenshot because it's not in the water.

That's a heck of a deer in your avatar ...

We're you able to harvest that one ...??

				Thanks Rickie,
I never laid eyes on him during the season...hoping he makes a return appearance once the cams go out this summer.

As for the settings on my FF, I was not able to mess with it last night, it was dark by the time I got home.  I will check tonight though.  I really want to just swap out the transducer from the XNT 9 DI T with the XNT 9 20T that I have laying around...just wish I knew if it would work and be compatible.

Only the 200kHz 2d beam of the XNT 9 20 will operate on the 596 DI ...

And it's probably not a good idea to use it for more than just testing because the DI transmitters in the unit will be firing ... With no DI piezo in the XNT 9 20 to fire ...

And I'm not sure how well even that frequency will display ...as the piezo is completely different from the 2d piezo in the stock XNT 9 DI T ...
