My 1199 when the power button is pushed shows Shutting Down" after Exit button is pushed.
Unit is connected straight to battery so loss of power is not an issue. I have installed the latest software. Think it's an internal issue.
Anyone had this problem?
-
I have had this problem before and it was always a battery problem or a bad connection. When booting up if the voltage is not up to par it will shut down. You might try another battery and if this works then have your battery load tested. I had one of my trolling motor batteries go bad over the winter. The charger said it was charged and the voltage read good but as soon as I put a load test on it, it failed. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=load+tester (http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=load+tester)

Thanks will check it again

Yes check the connections. But recently I had this happen to a 999 si unit. It was working fine then this shut down loop started. Tested in my 959 location. Same thing. It needed to go back and had several internal componets replaced. Awaiting it's arrival as we speak.
-
had this problem ,1199 combo unit was in a loop. keep shutting down then rebooting it self.. sent it back last week and received it today. service sent me a work sheet...." software,25-reboot,factory reset (nvr)" not sure what all that means but will ck it out when the rain stops.....
-
I received my 999 si back on Thursday. My paperwork said the same thing. But when I called and checked on my repair the person stated that it needed a new board. When I fired it up and checked the view with the software version it showed the hour meter back at 0 hours.
-
new board!!!! serious software issue..so was everything fine? did you have to re install anything????
-
No. It just fired right up. I had installed all the latest firmware in all 3 units and the I-linc. Everything ran fine for 3 days, during a fishing trip, then the 999 just started looping. Did your unit reset back to 0 hours
-
I think it should of been reset, will find out tomorrow
-
couldn't wait for tomorrow , check it out today and alls fine, time to go fishing....

Don't feel bad, I have experienced it with 3 out of 4 units. My 899, 859, and 1199 did the same thing. The 899 and 859 were 10 months old and the 1199 was 5 days old. There is an internal problem with the units, and its not model specific. After the 1199 started its issues, HB was more than happy to take them in and repair them at their shipping cost. They are aware of this issue, and prepared to make it right. I was disappointed in the beginning, but they have been excellent to resolve the situation with my units. Good Luck!

I had same problem with my 859, after wiring it and my 1198 directly to battery I put it thorough its paces in simulator mode (I did notice that when turning it off and back on again it took longer than usual to come back on)after down loading the newest version on the 859,1198 & i-pilot link I was off to the lake to try it out, everything was working great for about an hour that's when the 859 started power cycling, hooked my 1198 to same power plug the 859 was hooked too and that had no problems.Took the 859 back to cabelas and they exchanged it.Now I'm wondering if the new version for the 859 was corrupt or I just had a bad unit.I guess call to humminbird will be in order before I down load new version on new unit.

Just sent my 1159ci HD in last week for the same problem, had 14hrs on it when it stopped working. Had latest update for the full time.

I have the same issue. I first updated at the beginning of the year to correct the issues with the 360 having wagon wheel look. Installed update 7.460 fished one day no problem second day turned units on and came to disclaimer page pressed exit and both 899 and 1199 shuts down. Sent both units to Humminbird they sent back paper said 25 reboots called they said they replace both internal boards. Reinstalled was able to use 899 for three hours same problem again. Called again sent in Humminbird was good enough to replace the 899. While my 899 was at Humminbird I purchased a second 1199 and installed on the boat went fishing the first day no problem went second day turned the original 1199 on that had been fixed and it came to disclaimer page hit exit and back to shut down loop. Contacted Humminbird as you can imagine I was pretty upset. Humminbird had me ship them the 899, both 1199, the transducer, heading sensor, 360, five port switch and all cables. They are at Humminbird now I am waiting to hear from them. The only thing I did not send is the I-Pilot link. I will post when I get an answer from them but I have a boat now with no equipment. All the time dealing with this issue, holding for a human at Humminbird, removing the equipment and shipping I am at my breaking point. The 899 is one year old, one 1199 is 8 months old and six months of that was winter the last 1199 was bought last month.

Wow, I feel for ya. That’s a lot of work pulling all the cables and packing everything up. Keep us informed on what the issues are. If you read the whole thread they are not forthcoming on the paperwork on what was actually done in the repair. I was told they replaced boards. It wasn't apparent on the paperwork. They could be dealing with a bad batch of components on the original batch of PCBs. I was hoping the new boards would have had the issues identified and upgraded. But with people reporting repaired units failing for the same thing makes me feel uneasy. ???

Let us know what they find....

Well, I am at 2 weeks with a new 1199 being repaired last week and now replaced today. After using it a total of 3 hours I had to return it for repair, and then used it 1 hour before the same issue started again Tuesday. HB did replace the entire unit/setup in hopes this would fix the issue. My 959 has been a lifesaver during this time (its been the only one that has not gotten SICK). HB Customer Support is fabulous, and if it was not for that, I would have been gone already! I have experienced this on 3 of the 4 units (899, 859, 1199) on 2 boats in the past 45 days. When they are working its great, when they are going crazy, I ready to use them for an anchor. The common denominator seems to be a network gremlin. I have been providing a large amount of data to CS to assist with fixing the issue. Hopefully they can duplicate the problem in their shop. I have been instructed not to connect the units to the network until they can resolve the issue. It will be interesting to see what the answer is. Good Luck!

Just got the email. Disconnect the ilink. It is a networking issue. They owe me shipping.
-
It looks like they are on their way to resolving the issue. I would love to know what they have spent in shipping and replacement of these corrupted units. Mine did fine until I updated my ilink with the newest software version.
Like I've said before, when they work you can't beat them. When they don't your ready to sink them. I'm glad they are close to fixing the problem. My Lowrance buddies are giving me a fit!
Have a good holiday weekend!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sure glad I am on here with you all. I've just sent my second 1199 in for repair. Sent the other one in a few weeks back.
This time the reps sent me an email to disconnect the I Link too.
Hope it gets a fix soon too.
Thinking of getting a 360 but think I'll wait!
-
Got my 1159 unit back last Thursday and work order said software reboot, received email while away for weekend saying to disconnect Link. While out for repair used my 899 and had troubles keeping in on route while trolling, makes sense now. Hope it didn't corrupt that unit while in use. Eric

Thanks
I'll have to try my one out when I get on the water again.
-
had to send back the 1199 again, second time...spent a week way , way , way up north after the first fix. got three days out of it then back to the loop shut down problem ...very disappointed.. wait all year for a good trip , put out good money on making my trip enjoyable which includes Humminbird products in stead of Lowrance and have things fail, makes me wonder if my bitter half is right when she says " I don't need all those gadgets , just some worms and a pole"............................ having a feeling of regret...

There are a couple reasons that a unit would go into a reboot mode.
An FAQ has been created to may allow you to recover the unit from home if the problem is the soft brick NVR reset issue. Please see the link below for the steps to take to correct this without have to send in the unit for service.
http://www.humminbird.com/Category/Support/FAQ/RebootNVR/ (http://www.humminbird.com/Category/Support/FAQ/RebootNVR/)
However, should this not allow you recover the unit, then we would need to see the unit at the factory if you have also confirmed that you have 12 volts under a load going to the unit.

hi Debra , my 1199 was service on 4/21/15 then again on 6/25/15. on each repair invoice the tech. comments were " software 25 reboots, factory reset " . don't think it has anything to do with the link you shared in your last post .regarding your post and link,,, I find it a little disturbing to always have to have a back up plan on a unit that cost thousands of dollars....your solution reminds me of a time in the past ( 30 years ago ) when Harley Davidsons were not very reliable and the rider always had a bag of tools with them.. it took Harley 30 years ...
