First of all I just want to say thank you to the community. I have learned so much from here. I just bought my first side imaging unit and from reading on here. Certain production dates are prone to have washout problem on 800khz. Well, unfortunately my unit is affected. I spoke to Hummingbird, they said I need to send in the head unit only to get it repair. Now, from what I read on here, it is just the transducer that need to get send in for repair. Anyone has knowledge on this? Is my transducer that need repair or the head unit? It is brand new..

The head unit will need to be sent in.

Do you think Humminbird or I should ask for a replacement head unit since I just bought it 3/24/2015? I did not use it yet; I just installed the transducer and hook it up to power on. That's all, no water time yet.

If you haven't used it, how do you know it has the 800kHz washout?

From researching in this forum, I learned certain production dates have this issue so I called Humminbird. Unfortunately, my is affected.

It is another month or so before fishing opener in Minnesota. If there is a problem with my unit I want it fix now so I can have it ready..

I would go ahead and send it in then sean55337. It will be back in plenty of time for your opener.

I received an email today stating that the unit is fixed and on its way back to me. I am really excited. I have a question however, in the email the note from the technician stated: SI Left Incorrect/Missing L
Does anyone on here know what this mean?
I sent the unit back for washout recall/repair. I am a little bit confuse here.

I believe that is the coding that they are using for the 800kHz washout problem. We track all repairs that come to us so they need to code everything so that all that data can be sorted through and decisions made.

What are the production dates that are affected? I'm thinking about buying one and would like to avoid any issues.

I think it is somewhere between August and December, search the forum. It was discussed that is how I know
However, I suggest go ahead buying it but do not open it. Call Humminbird to give them your serial number. It is located outside the box, if it is being recalled then just exchange it for one that is not.
