Hey Gang,
I was curious does it matter what size a ferrite ring you use to wrap the transducer cable around? Would a larger ring than what hummingbird sent me work since they say the more wraps the better ?
I was only able to get 5 wraps on my old transom transducer on my 959 DI with the ring hummingbird sent me . I installed my new XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T. on my i pilot Which has a thicker cable ( Because of extra shielding ) and i don't think i will be able to even get 5 this time. I have improvement with my RFI noise with the new transducer but i have to adjust the unit in different depths of water. But it is still there.
Any way hopefully some one can answer
Thanks in advance
Keith

I don't know if a different size would matter unless it has something to do with the frequency it works at - which does make a difference. This is why you should use the ferrites from Humminbird and not from somewhere else.

Okay Greg thanks

One more question maybe need to call HB , but do they just make one size ring? I watched a video of Doug V and he was able to get 7 wraps and there was no way i could have gotten seven. And now with the thicker cable i know there is no way.

Just the one ring size that I am aware of. A thicker cable would take up more space which would mean fewer wraps do to the connector size not fitting through the smaller opening with the larger diameter cable.

Okay Thanks Greg i will use the one that hummingbird sent me
Thanks
