Has anybody sent in their 899 for the fix to the HD issue? I did am will be getting the unit back tomorrow, but still a couple feet of ice on the lake here and no sign of it thawing very soon. Was wondering if the fix really works before I order the HD transducer. Also, did the latest software (7.460) release fix the Fish ID problem?

Worked great for mine.

Fish ID was fixed I heard, NEVER use it myself.
Yes, the 800KHz fix works after they install a missing coil.
When you switch to 800 KHz your screen will wash out until the full screen width passes by and all is good.
You will still use 455 KHz more, as the beam swath is wider.
Don't sweat it, you'll like it. The Jigging mode helps with 2D quality also ~ I tested that out on Jan. 02-2015 and liked what I saw even though we had fish in mind and limited time with water @ 32.4° F!

Thanks for the information. I just received the unit back. No information about what was done, but just a cryptic note on the packing slip.
"Tech. Comments: (Sonar-Imaging, 27 -SI Right Incorrect/Missin, L,200)"
Any idea what this means?? As far as I know there wasn't anything "wrong" with the unit, and the side imaging worked within the limitations of non-HD transducer.
Gonna' be a while before I can test it out in the water....no sign of "ice out" here....figure it will be the end of April if we're lucky up here in the frozen tundra.

That may be the coding that they are using for the 800kHz fix.

Thanks for the input again. Took the plunge and ordered the new HD transducer. Will see what happens once I get the boat back in the water if the ice ever melts.
Bad thing is a started looking at those 360 degree gizmos too! Things could get wicked expensive real quick for me this "spring" while I wait for ice out. New software seems to have the display on the simulator mode, and that 360 deal would be great for the bass fishing around me.
