Title: Onix 10 SI newbee
Post by: larryk on March 17, 2015, 04:40:40 PM
So I bought me a boat and put all the latest HB bells and whistles on it figuring I was going to be the new "Go To" guy for people wanting to know where the fish are at the local lake....... so I knew there was going to be a learning curve but I am stumped. My 2d is working ok and my 360 is working good now that I have moved the transducer where it will deploy lower that my propeller. (transom mount on floatation pod). But my screen is almost entirely black on my DI and SI. No matter what settings I try it really doesn't change. I figured even with default settings I should see something....... any suggestions for a newbee Thanks

I don't have an Onix ..... but will try to help ...

Do you have the latest software update on the unit?   Have you called Humminbird customer service about your concerns?

You should be getting great SI and DI with the Onix.

No on the latest download and have not contacted HB service yet. Figured I might get it figured out on my own......  or with a little help from my friends. I did get a low voltage alarm so I think I will try again with a full charge. Unless someone else might have had this problem.

There were a LOT of fixes in the 2.0 update for the Onix.....If you call customer service, that is the first thing they are going to tell you to do.

You will probably want to update the 360 at the same time.... There are some videos floating around showing the update process....One of them is here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM1kds69gRg&feature=youtu.be (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM1kds69gRg&feature=youtu.be)

I understand what you are saying about the updates and I will be doing that. But I'm not convinced that is the problem. I should still be able to see the screen with outdated software.

You need to be calling customer service ..... We are going to be getting into prime spring fishing before long and you want to get it round tripped before that if it has to go back and get fixed....or talk to the dealer where you bought it.

Install the latest software and if you are still having problems, post some pictures of the transducer mounting and some Screen Snapshots of what you are seeing on your ONIX unit.

When you update you will want to follow these to the T.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. My boat is at the shop getting a cover made for it but when I get it back this weekend I will update software on everthing and see what happens next.

Maybe post some screen shots of what you are seeing and some Pics of your transducer location from a few angles .... as Greg suggested.

Did you check to see if it is in night mode?

Did you check the sonar settings to make sure the di and si beams were turned on?
