Title: Using adapter cables AD 1429 and Y cable AS 14 SI DB Y
Post by: Trytoofish on February 26, 2015, 08:13:46 AM
On my terrovia It looks like using the AD1429,and the Mkr us2 13 and the y cable AS 14 si db y should allow using both the us2 for 2d and the older 9 pin hdsi on a Onix. The cable of the 14 pin transducer wont fit the groove on the terrova and I dont want to go back to the coiled cable mess of the old days. Will I have 2d si and di with this configuration?

That is what it looks like to me too though I do not know of anyone who has tried it.

I also have not seen nor heard of anyone using the core unit XHS 9 HDSI 180 T on the Onix ... Even tho that option is possible according to the literature for the AD 1429 ...

This is on my list of tests in the coming months ...

You may be interested in this from the verbiage ...

If you use this adapter with the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T, you will lose Down Imaging sonar.

Meaning the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T has no dedicated DI piezo for the Onix to transmit DI thru ...

Thanks Rickie

I was hoping the Onix could make a composite DI like the core units. but maybe not!

Hi all,

I have since a month an Onix and use the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T with the adapter cable.
3 weeks ago I made the first recordings in record mode and snapshot.
My first goal was to look at the SI and 360 TM, but maybe I can playback(upcoming weekend) the record at the Onix and see what has done the DI.
When I know more, I'll send a print screen.

Annexed is a snapshot in SI of a wooden wreck.

greeting Bert

Thanks Rickie

I was hoping the Onix could make a composite DI like the core units. but maybe not!

As I mentioned the Onix can't transmit DI thru the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T because the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T does not have a DI piezo ...

And the Onix can't display the "blended DI from SI" because Onix doesn't have programming for this task ...

It would be best to turn off the DI ping in the Onix when connected to the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T to keep the Di transmitter in the Onix from transmitting ...
