Is it worth the money to upgrade my transducer to the xtm 9 wide di 20 t what's the difference in the two. Is there a hi def for the 859 trolling motor mount.

There is a DI wide transducer that has the 200/83 2D instead of the 200/455 that comes standard with the unit.
This one is designed for the trolling motor. It is the one I would get, and I think they exchange it for free.

Well I've had the unit for about a year as well as the 899. Going to upgrade the 899 to the hi def duper and was curious if there was a better than stock duper for the 59. And yes the 59 is on the bow

The XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T that Bob listed is the only other DI xducer that is different internally than the XNT 9 DI T ...
XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T - 200kHz/83kHz 2d and 455kHz/800kHz DI ...
XNT 9 DI T - 200kHz/455kHz 2d and 455kHz/800kHz DI ...
There is the XTM 9 DI 25 T ... Which is the TM puck version with the same specs as the XNT 9 DI T ...

The DI piezoes are the same in all the HB DI xducers ...(Except the Onix All in One xducer)...

I just purchased a 859 DI to put on the bow. Can I use the transom mount transducer that comes with it on my trolling motor? Or do I need to swap it for one made for the trolling motor? If I need to swap which should I go with the wide or standard trolling motor transducer? I mainly fish for Crappie and Saugeye in less than 30' of water.

I would go with the Di wide for the trolling motor .... Give Humminbird a call about the swap before opening the hardware bag.

Yes, you can use the transom mount transducer on the trolling motor but you will need an adapter to mount it there. It will work well on the trolling motor but there is one difference between it and the made-for-trolling motor version: the trolling motor versions have an added layer of RF shielding built into them to help with any trolling motor interference issues that you may have. You won’t know you have these issues until the transducer is mounted at which time the transducer will not be eligible for the Transducer Exchange Program (requires an unmounted transducer and mounting hardware to still be in original bag). I encourage you to call the Humminbird Customer Service folks and make use of the Transducer Exchange Program and get one of the made-for-trolling motor transducers.
Standard or wide should be based on the area of coverage and the frequencies that will be used. Rickie stated these above but it should be noted that many other sonar units use the same 200kHz frequency and if operated at the same time there could be sonar cross-talk.
Just an FYI about calling the Humminbird Customer Resurce folks (1-800-633-1468). Mondays are the busiest day of the week for these folks, so either call early (8:01 AM Central time) or call another day. Wednesday mornings they have a 30 minute meeting so call at 8:31 AM.
