Hello Guys.
I was in the garage this weekend working on the boat. I stopped for a few minutes to play with the 798, hopefully to learn a little more about the unit. Unfortunately, every time I would power on the unit, it would go to the start-up screen where you press menu to exit, and once pressed, it would automatically shut the unit down. I disconnected the head unit a re-installed hoping that would fix it, but it did not. Can you give me some advice on things to try or check? The unit worked fine the last time out (about 1 - 1/2 weeks ago).

The quickest test would be to connect the unit directly to a know good battery right at the unit power cord pigtail ...
If the issue disappears ...then diagnosing bad compartment battery or boat wiring is next ...
Most issues such as this are inadequate power or wiring to the unit ...

X2 what Rickie said. I had the same thing happen last year and found my battery was bad on a load test.
