Title: 798ci si transducer
Post by: richteb on February 06, 2015, 11:38:08 PM
Hi guys,
Hoping for some clarification on transducers for my 798ci si combo unit. Will the xhs 9 hdsi 180 t work on my unit? if not then what would be a better transducer then the one that was included. Hoping to improve the quality of the images that I am getting.

Thanks

The XHS 9 HDSI 180 T can be used on the 798 for somewhat better SI images ...

This is due to the longer SI piezoes in the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T ... Longer piezoes create a thinner beam ...which renders better detail ...

The XHS 9 HDSI 180 T will also function at 800kHz ... But your 798 will not be able to utilize this 800kHz frequency because the 798 will not transmit the 800kHz frequency ...

There are several that say the added detail in the 455kHz SI frequency from the longer SI piezoes in the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T are worth the upgrade ...

I have the compact transducer on the 798 in the front and the XHS 9 HDSI 180 T on the 798 in the dash. The images seem a little more detailed on the dash unit, but the compact transducer is mounted on the trolling motor. I have not had a chance to record the same object from both to compare yet, but I will and compare them on Hummviewer. I have no regrets about using the larger transducer. In reality I think the real difference is seen on the larger screens.
