Title: Autochart Pro
Post by: Bill H on January 10, 2015, 05:10:01 PM
I just got Autochart Pro and I have not been on the water yet but my question is, do i have to have the Autochart SD card in my unit and record to it? or can i use my Navionics card or Lakemaster card in one slot and record to an empty SD card? The autochart card is full, approx 15Megs used so doesn't seem like room to put on it.

OK so you can't use navionics or lake master while recording for autochart data? Correct?

Recording is always best on its own card. What exact data are your recording and what do you want to do with the data.  Chuck

I want to record side imaging data and everything was just curious which cards have to be in the unit to collect the data. I guess I assumed in the beginning, I would have a Navionics or Lakemaster card in one slot and the auto chart pro in the other slot and it would record to the autochart card but looking at how much space is on the autochart card that doesn't appear to be the way it works. Sounds like the Autochart card and one slot and a blank SD card in the other slots the way it is.

AutoChart and AutoChart Pro are the PC based software ...

The HB recording data is collected in the HB unit ...either to a blank SD Card... or the Zero Lines card that comes with the AutoChart package ...

The HB recording is loaded into the AutoChart/AutoChart Pro PC program to be rendered into mapping data that is then uploaded to the Zero Lines card ...

The Zero Lines card (with your new custom mapping data) is now a custom LakeMaster Map Card that is read by the HB unit as a regular mapping card ...

The HB unit can only read 1 map card at a time ... So you will have to choose to either use your Navionics mapping for chart views or the Zero Lines card (with your new custom mapping data) ...

When using the Zero Lines card (with your new custom mapping data) as the mapping card ... The Zero Lines card should be locked ...

This will allow you to have a blank SD Card in the unit for snapshots and recordings ...while using the Zero Lines card (with your new custom mapping data) as a regular mapping card ...

Ok thanks for that explanation. For some reason I was thinking after you converted the data using the PC software, you could update your existing lake master chip with the new updates or overlay it on the Navionics card.

That would be cool if that were possible ...

Just to recap ... The Zero Lines card becomes a "LakeMaster custom map card"... After the AutoChart program has rendered your HB recordings into map data and you load the AutoChart data back into the Zero Lines card ...
