My 788ci hd di unit worked great on the water but when I got home it would not power on while on the bow. I connected it to my 998 power supply at the helm and it fired right up. I couldn't find any loose connections. Are the power cords known to go bad? If so, which power cord should I order?
Thanks,
Matt

Check the connections in the quick mount to make sure none have come loose ...
You can dis-assemble the quick mount and plug the cables directly into the unit for testing connections at the head unit ...
Test the 998 on the bow power (after removing the cables from the quick mount)...
Is the power to the bow wired directly to the battery or thru a panel somewhere ...??
(Panel connections are known to be possible loose connections because of the constant beating the boat takes on the water )...
Check fuse, fuse holder and battery connections for corrosion ...
My bet is in the front quick mount alignment of the cables in the mount ...

Thanks Rickie, I have tried everything you said except connect the 998 on the bow. It is wired into the fuse panel under the dash, I will tighten all those connections and re-try it.
