Title: 698 transducer mount
Post by: jcotter on December 10, 2014, 05:01:17 PM
where is the best place to mount the transom transducer for Humminbird 698 SI on a 2011 Stratos 285 xl. On the first motor mount transom, the first step below the transom, or the second step below the transom? Thanks.

Here is some Stratos installation info ...

The xducer must be in clean un-aerated water to get un-interrupted imaging ...

Most glass boats mount the SI xducer higher (to be used at idling speed)...and then use a bilge mount shoot thru XP 9 20 with the AS SIDB Y cable (for high speed depth reading)...

High speed reading can be obtained with the stock SI xducer ... But that means mounting the xducer low enough to stay in the water while the boat is up on pad ... Making the xducer succeptable to damage from floating debris ...
