Title: Onix with 360 which transducer
Post by: jonshoreman on October 30, 2014, 04:30:26 PM
I have an Onix 10 CI SI Combo with 360.

Is it better to use 2 of the transducer that came with the Onix for SI ( one on either side of the boat ), or the 360?

For better Si images I would use the transducer that came with the ONIX unit.
However, if you want 360 degree Si sonar you have to use the 360 Imaging accessory.

Did you buy additional transducers for use with your ONIX unit?

Didn't buy any additional transducers ( other than the 360 unit ).
There is an option in the Onix to use wither 360 transducer or regular transducer.

If it is better to use the transducer that came with the Onix, I will do that.
( I assume one on either side of the boat, connected via a Y-Splitter cable is better ?

The dual HDSI setup using the AS SILR Y cable can producer better results ...simply by the fact that the "side pointing" SI beams don't have to pass by as many obstacles on the transom ...

jonshoreman, are you referring to the 360 Imaging accessory as one of the two transducers?

Yes, that's what I mean.
Within the Onix settings I have an option of which transducer to use to give me SI.

The 360 has an option to use the 360 for si/di.
I have used the 360 in this way, on my 998, but did not no that this could be done using the onix.
Using the 360 in si/di mold on my 998 produced a slightly less quality image, on both si and di and also less range on si (imo)..       is this the info your asking for?)

Yes, that's what I'm looking for.
So SI using the 360 isn't as good.
