I use the fish finder only a few time, yesterday when I look at it, I saw a long crack in the middle of the transducer and I saw some metal inside the transducer, can I fix the transducer with glue or do I have to buy a new one
thanks

You can try gluing the crack. The crack might be where the top and the bottom halves of the transducer housing meet. HB has had some previous problems with their gluing the edges. Use a good grade of epoxy mix and take your time getting the glue in the crack. Chuck

banhtrang,
Do you have any pictures of this cracked transducer that you could post?

Yes I do, I believe with a certainty that the crack is the result of testing the unit dry while trying to learn about the fish finder feature. Now It does not work I don't know because of the crack or because the unit broke[attach=1]

Well that certainly is cracked across the bottom middle of the transducer. Can’t say that I have ever seen that before. I don’t think that you will be able to fix it either.
While I am not sure what would have cause this – I do know that running the unit with the transducer out of the water should not have done that.
Looking closely at the picture there appears to be some sort of substance on some of the bottom and around some of the bottom edge. How was the transducer mounted and was there any sort of adhesive or silicone used on the transducer itself?

Greg,
I glue a plastic container large enough for the transducer to the inside of the boat, and I forgot to put the water in the jar and it was working fine but I found the crack after the trip, so I use silicon to glue it down to the bottom of the container, and It did not work after that. The silicon is easy to rub off

I just spoke with one of our Mechanical Engineers here and he did not have any ideas as to what caused it either. I thought maybe it was the silicone that caused it but you said that was afterwards, plus the ME pointed out that chemically attacked plastic usually looks different than that (does not split like this did). So we are back to: I just don’t know what would have done this… ???
Call the Humminbird Customer Service folks and see if they will replace it.

I found the crack after one trip that I run dry and it hot to the touch so that was my original assumtion. I will give HB a call to see what they say
thanks
